I'm Amazed

Yes I'm taking a picture with my phone. And what? Look at that forehead! The majority my face is my forehead. I don't know what I'm doing with my hair. Think I'll wear my hat tonight. But look at those beautiful teeth! And those eyes! Sweet! Can wait till I grow back those eyelashes and that brow! I need to rock those contacts. Those eyes can not be hidden any longer. Bday is coming up in a month and some days. Y'all pray that my lashes grow back by then. Any who...so the reason why the phone is in the pic.

I lost this phone yesterday evening when my friend was dropping me off near the mailbox so I could bring in the mail. Unfortunately, I was clueless to what occurred until I was in the house. By then I wasn't sure if I left it in the vehicle, if it was hidden in one of the bags I take with me to school, or if I had accidentally dropped it on the ground in front of the house or the mailbox. As it was already dark outside, I decided to leave the excursion for later and search inside the house. I searched all over (hehehe if you know the song) and I could not find it. I assumed I must have dropped it outside or in the vehicle. The next morning, I found out that the phone was not in the vehicle. So I came home this afternoon with the intention of searching this house and the outside. I searched all over (hehehe) and I couldn't find the phone. I prayed. In my prayer, I recounted to God how he helped me find my charger on Wednesday (Right after I prayed). Then I praised Him for finding the phone and for just being who He is. I'm sure I said other things. Then I searched the house some more. And then I started to despair. I prayed for God to take away the negative feelings and again for my phone. Yes! Then I got up and had lunch with the plan to walk back to the mailbox to search for the phone. On my way to the mailbox with an ice cream sandwich in my hand (so good, so good) I run into one of my neighbors named Kenneth, who is an Atheist from Chicago who loves NY, and he was also going to get his mail. So I decided to also not look like I had lost my puppy and I picked up the mail for the house I live in also. As we're talking I know I've got to ask him for my phone, and as he is leaving to go back into his house, I ask him about the cellphone. And of course he has it. He tells me that it was quite fortuitous. I suggested that it might be providential. Being an Atheist, he brushes that suggestion away.  I was shocked at how amazing God worked. Kenneth is also someone I've got to pray for now.
I know that y'all are thinking that I was just being careless again. And you're right. But God keeps proving to me how un-careless He is. Yes, I said un-careless. I'm Amazed.

Wonderful Children

Bless my heart! Their ruder than when I first believed and ridiculously bright. Too bad intelligence does not mean wisdom. Can you believe this child in front of my face decided to kick another child, make him cry and think that it was OK for her to do that? She has lost it. Then, there are those who think their too smart to listen to any adult and they find joy in talking back to adults. Did someone say corporal punishment? No I would never do that... Any who...the Lord is good who promised, and these children do not determine my happiness. Praise Jesus! Keep my lips from guile Lord!

What is Kwanzaa?

I thought that it should be important for me to do some research on Kwanzaa before I went all full throttle Kwanzaa mode. Kwanzaa is a holiday created by  Maulana Karenga . While secular in nature, it does celebrate the cultural heritage on Black people in America. The Seven core principles of Kwanzaa are: Umoja  (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race. Kujichagulia  (Self-Determination): To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves. Ujima  (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems, and to solve them together. Ujamaa  ( Cooperative Economics ): To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together. Nia  (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to...

Testimonies Part 3: Boring Testimony Please!

My friend and fellow volunteer teacher, Mrs. Lawrence is a doll. She was telling me the other day about a retreat she attended in which a lady mentioned that she wanted all her children to have boring testimonies. She explained that boring meant that they don't leave God to have an adventure in the world but they spend their whole life serving God. Isn't that what we all want for our children? Safe lives? Let me not downplay the testimony of someone who never dabbled in worldliness or was enslaved to sin. It's not boring. Being used by God is a good thing. We're so warped and twisted that we think the world has something better to offer. So we go out in the world, waiting for God's "big reveal" and then if he does, we devote the rest of our life to Him. But if we don't get that "big reveal"? Then our life would be a testimony to the power of the Devil. Personally, I like working for God and to know I'm in His will. It's assuring a...
